Explore & document this year’s stories + seasons through paint

Live + Online workshop
Monday, December 18
@6:30 - 8:30 pm EST

Get comfy, light a candle (or get that disco ball a twirlin’) and paint your way through the lessons, joys, challenges, and creative experiences of this past year.

The unfinished painting that hangs on the studio wall. The stacks of drawings in progress. The stories partially developed. Note pages filled with ideas. So many ideas.

It’s so easy to arrive at this time of year and only shine a spotlight on what’s unfinished and incomplete.

But if all we see is the unfinished and incomplete…the ideas still in draft…the paintings still in need of more layers.

We’re missing out on so much.

Like….

The time you wrote through the resistance and went to bed feeling relieved and proud of what came out of you and onto the page.

That night you choose compassion over shame and allowed yourself to embrace failure and imperfection, just a little bit more.

The morning you chose to play Pure Joy by Cinthya Garcia and dance in your bedroom instead of doom scrolling on your phone.

The moments where making art comforted you, offered you an outlet for your frustration, anger and sadness.

The mini-comebacks you made, picking up your sketchbook again, making a tiny bit more progress on that book you’re writing. Your stubborn refusal to resign and give up on your creativity.

There’s so much to retrace, savour, collect,
and release.

Just imagine the kind of painting ALL THAT could create.

This is why I’m so delighted to be hosting
A Painted Reflection workshop
and why I hope you’ll join me.

In this workshop I’ll guide you through visualization practices and painting prompts so you can:

  • Appreciate the creations you spent time making this year

  • Remember and soak in the moments and memories that really mattered

  • Carry forward the wisdom and lessons you’ve gathered from experience

  • Step into a fresh season feeling more connected to your creativity, open and ready to hear its whispers and calls

  • Accept and release the ideas and projects you no longer wish to give attention and energy to

  • Know what you need to cultivate a creative practice that is a playground where so much joy, playfulness and confidence can grow from

This workshop isn’t about forcing yourself to feel grateful and happy for what you created or how your year went.

It isn’t about neatly packaging up the year into a highlight reel or rather a perfect painting.

It’s an invitation to reflect in a different way - letting your hands and intuition lead the way and an opportunity to close out this chapter in playful, painted style!

Hey, I’m Krista Kankula and I’m a Creativity Coach and Abstract Painter.

A belief that is foundational to my coaching and workshops is this: Our ability to create the kind of future we hope for is dependent on us being as creative, imaginative and collaborative as possible and playful art making offers us a pathway for discovering who we are, the difference we seek to make and going about making it!

My coaching and workshops focus on helping you pursue your creative callings all while PLAYING your way to a more creative, joyful and meaningful life.

I believe that being playful can help us face the fears of “who am I to create this?”, find freedom in the uncertainty, foster community and experience more delight in the creative process.

I’m an artist and sporty gal with a playful heart, who is hopelessly optimistic about our potential as humans to use creativity and collaboration to effect positive change. I’m a certified coach and hold a diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services.
